At least twice a week I'm posed the question "Why use Joomla!?"  Ok, really that's the follow up question to "Do you develop WordPress sites?"  While the correct answer is that I use the technology most appropriate to the task, it is true that more times than not, I use Joomla!.

​This infographic has some interesting information about the web design and development industry. A couple of things that jumped out at me where the fact that females is still low at 12% and favorite CMS, Joomla!, is one of the most popular platforms. What jumps out at you?

Recently, I read (shared on our Facebook page) the article Productivity Tips for Developers over on the RocketTheme blog.   If you’ve been a reader for awhile, I am always looking for ways to improve productivity.  In this article, there were some great tips and reminders for developers, especially if you work remotely.  One that I often forget is BREAKS!  Yes, I know, it seems obvious, to take a few minutes away to allow thoughts to gel and ideas to form but sometimes, I just get so caught up.

The article capped off the great tips, with a few of the members of the RocketTheme  team (if you don’t know RocketTheme, you might want to check out their templates and extensions) listing out a few tools that they find helpful.  One such tool is Dash.  I’d not heard of it before and anything with the word “dash” in it, I have to check it out.

One part of web design and development that seems to be a pain is images.  We love and hate them.  With the right set of images the site is informative and inviting.  However, if they are not optimized they can make a site very slow and painful for visitors.  Adobe Evangelist, Terry White, discusses the "Generate" functionality of Photoshop CC for creating web images in his new blog post.

In 10 minutes, you will learn how to save yourself hours of work.  It is worth noting that if you have your layers named for the asset e.g. image.png when all files are generated, that information is brought through in the export/generation.
