3 Things to do this November for Your Business

3-things-to-do-this-november-for-your-business

Now in the Midwest, the air is already turning chilly signaling that the end of the year is near. But before that happens there are a few things to do to prepare your business. My top 3 business to-dos for November are:

  • Update Google My Business
  • Evaluate Product and Service Offerings
  • Thank supporters, customers, and most of all employees

1. Update Google My Business

If you have not claimed your Google My Business entry, now is a great time to do so. Claiming your business profile on Google My Business gives you control over it. This is not the same as your Google Analytics, Google Search Console (formerly known as Webmaster tools), nor Google Ads account. Google gathers information about businesses and creates profiles based on that information. You can control what that profile says about you and your business by claiming it. Then you can update the information by adding in your hours, images, categories, products/services, and more. Especially this time of your, updating your Google My Business profile to post your holiday hours, specials and more can help customers find you, your products, and your services. You can even add photos to help customers identify with who you are and what you offer.

2. Evaluate Product and Service Offerings

Get started early on your end-of-year review of your products and service offerings. Take a look at what sold the most and the least. This year, also look at what sold pre-, post-, and during the pandemic. Think about how much it costs you in time, money, and resources to provide each and ask yourself:

  • Did I solve a problem or answer a question?
  • Did I enjoy/feel-good providing the service or product?
  • Is the product/service still being provided at or above the quality standard set for it?
  • How much time did providing the product or service cost?
  • What resources were required?
  • What was the net profit?
Be brutally honest here especially about the time needed, the quality standard that you've set, and whether or not you enjoy/feel-good about providing the product or service.

3. Thank supporters, customers, and most of all your employees

This goes beyond the thank you uttered as part of everyday life. This is really, truly letting them know how much they mean to you and your business. Said differently, this is showing appreciation to them for the trust they put in you and your business. How you do it is up to you. It is should be appropriate and meaningful, not one-size-fits-all.

Remember, if you need any assistance with accomplishing these November tasks, contact us and we'd be happy to give you a hand.
