Today, Facebook posted about a breach discovered on September 25th and was said to have affected almost 50 million accounts. You can read the entire statement here. They have addressed the issue and reset access keys for affected parties. We recommend the following precautions.
1. Logout of All Devices
You can do this by going to the Facebook Security and Login page and looking at "Where You're Logged In". Any unfamiliar gadgets or devices you see, click the "Remove" button.
2. Change Your Password
If you have a weak password, reset to a strong, complex one with mixed case, symbols, numbers and/or phrase. Recommend this especially if you saw an unfamiliar devices logged in.
3. Use Two-Factor Authentication
You may be familiar with two-factor authentication from other sites. What is means is as part of the login process, a unique code is sent by text message and is required for completion.
After following these precautions, you will need to reconnect your social media accounts within your social media management program such as Buffer. Follow the messaging within your program.
